Phoenix Rising
Soar above Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Serengeti Plain aboard the new family-friendly coaster, Phoenix Rising. Custom media on 4 huge LED “windows” in the station reveals 4 different Phoenixes, with the story and content synchronized to the arrival and departure of the coaster train. Original music and audio design in the station extends to 4 custom on-ride audio tracks that enhance and heighten the excitement and thrill of the coaster’s flight. All of these elements combine with a first of its kind coaster model to set new standards for family-friendly theme park thrills.
Bringing the Legend to Life
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay set out to fill a gap in the park’s coaster lineup while embracing visual media and audio like never before at Busch Gardens. The result is Phoenix Rising, a family-friendly coaster that pushes the boundaries of the coaster experience, all with a height restriction of only 42” that allows younger riders to join the excitement.
Located in the park’s Pantopia section, this attraction features four large LED “windows” in the station with content that synchronizes with the coaster. As the train passes by outside, stained glass windows shatter to reveal one of four phoenixes greeting the arriving train back into the station. As the train departs the phoenix transforms into a burst of energy and takes flight, leading the riders out onto the track.
Spinifex worked with United Parks to develop the story of four distinct phoenixes identities representing the realms of Fire, Ice, Jungle and Sea. Transition moments reveal elegant stained glass scenes, landscape vistas and phoenixes that form from a glass shard shatter effect and transform with magical particles and light effects.
Phoenix Rising is the very first Busch Gardens coaster to incorporate an original soundtrack and onboard audio composed by Spinifex with sound effects specific to each mythical creature. Onboard audio effects and music align with key movements, heightening the excitement and ensuring riders feel the rush of flight as they soar on the wings of a phoenix.
