In anticipation of its 50th Anniversary in 2023, Hershey’s Chocolate World wanted to celebrate in a BIG way! Spinifex Group worked alongside ByerlyXPS and partners at Hershey to develop Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition, a new attraction for Chocolate World.
Hershey’s Great Candy Expedition is an immersive, interactive experience designed to engage all five senses: taste, touch, smell, sight, and sound. With a completely original concept and story, guests are invited on a train ride through six different regions, each representing a different Hershey’s candy — Kisses Valley, Jolly Rancher Junction, Reese’s Ridge, Almond Joy and Mounds Cove, Kit Kat Timbers, and Twizzlers Forest. Beginning in a beautiful train station, a preshow brings the station to life and builds anticipation for the journey ahead. Walking onto the platform and into the the theater, travelers find themselves inside the Hersheyland Express, where they can choose which lands they want visit through buttons on their seats, which also rumble and shake to recreate real train sensations. Three 4k laser projectors map the space and in-theater wind, snow, scent, and lighting effects create an immersive experience across a 270-degree screen from location to location.
